Sustainable Architectural Mosaic Installations Created with Recycled Mirror and Tile. We Create Places from Spaces.
Designer Georgina Lipsey captures movement through space with mirrored mosaics at an architectural scale. Her unique work is focused on the play of light. An exterior mural wall application is one that changes according to the light of day/night, shadows, the season, the wind, and jeweled evening settings, along with artificial light, even revolving color. Your commissioned piece is never the same from one moment to the next. In and of itself, the space around the viewer is constantly transitioning. It is a virtual shimmering type of kinetic art, one that has been “painted” with light. Indeed, it is architectural magic that you have likely not experienced before. The artist’s goals are to customize and memorialize, evoking the spirit of the client and reflecting it back into their environment.
The work is done in 2, 3, and 4 dimensions. The materials are tile, mirror, and colored grout. Additionally, personal memorabilia, rocks, and discarded materials are used in a creative and expressive manner to create mural planes (walls, floors, ceilings) or 3 dimensional “columns.”
The designs create philosophical meditative and reflective spaces, both private and public. When viewing a wall, the effect of the mirror makes the viewer feel as though they are looking through the wall, while it is actually reflecting the saturation of beauty of a myriad of thousands of images behind them; hence, the 4th dimension. “Metamorphosis” and “evolution” are the operative words that have steered this designer throughout all her works.
Additionally, Georgina’s public mission is to contribute to the evolution of a Greener planet. Her goal is to beautify cities, (by transforming unattractive walls) using discarded and recycled materials. She offers workshops that teach the mosaic process, while creating community and opportunities for artists, the disabled, and others with a green cause.
Georgina is a multi-faceted organic and dynamic designer. She is an expressionist and has been most influenced by the architect Antonio Gaudi. Professionally trained as an Architect and Interior Designer, she has been a specialist of space and color design for over 35 years.
